Founded in 2017, The Practice Space is a non-profit that builds confidence and community voice through communication skill development. We provide educational content and supportive practice experiences to improve the culture of communication in schools and communities. Our curriculum is informed by research on the science of social and emotional learning as well as instruction influenced by extensive experience in persuasive argumentation, vocal performance, and teacher development. Specifically, The Practice Space offers workshops, lessons, camps, and events using storytelling, advocacy, conversation, and performance to engage youth and adults. Through school-based, community-oriented, and virtual spaces for public speaking, the goal of The Practice Space is to help people have vulnerable conversations, feel connected, address social anxieties, and be authentic.
