The Parenting Connection of Monterey County supports parents and caregivers in developing their ability to nurture young children. We have a vision that families in Monterey County thrive because children are parented well. We value parent education that is delivered respectfully, is research-based, honors the whole parent and child, and is appropriate for each age and stage.
We are offering the ONLY parent-education playgroup in Marina for families with young children - and the ONLY parent-education playgroup on the Monterey Peninsula at times working families can participate! Play and Learn Playgroups (PAL) are a weekly 2 hour class that parents attend with their children aged 0-5 facilitated by a professional parent educator. PAL classes are designed to increase parental resilience, build social connections, share knowledge of parenting and child development, provide concrete support in times of need, and support the development of social and emotional competence in children. Parents who attend PAL classes report feeling more informed, supported, and capable in their role.
Your support has made all of this possible! We are so exceedingly grateful for the generous support of the Community Foundation of Monterey County, the Nancy Buck Ransom Foundation, the Pebble Beach Company Foundation, the Arts Council for Monterey County, Monterey Peninsula Volunteer Services, the Church Mouse, California Upjohn Foundation, the Yellow Brick Road Foundation, and many individual donors.
Thank you for your confidence in us and your commitment to investing in families with young children! We would be honored to host you for a tour of our new classroom and invite you to see our Play and Learn Classes in action. Our interim Executive Director Wendy Root Askew is available at 831-601-8285 to answer any questions or make arrangements for a tour of the program.
