The Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning (NCEL) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Perrysville, Ohio. The Mission at NCEL is to provide a safe nurturing, dynamic learning environment where people are empowered to succeed.
During the summer time NCEL provides 6 weeks of residential camps for children with learning differences, behavior disorders, and youth on the Autistic spectrum. The children are placed in groups of 7 kids with 3 staff members. This allows for much more one on one engagement. The staff at NCEL are trained to provide "unconditional acceptance" to all the youth who come through the doors.
During the spring and fall, NCEL provides a customized residential outdoor education program to schools across Ohio. Currently NCEL serves over 20 schools through this program. While the Outdoor Education curriculum is aligned with the Ohio State Educational Standards, there is also a strong focus on the social and emotional skills. It is the belief at NCEL that this combination approach allows for more authentic learning to occur.
