The National Lottery Community Fund has a critical role to play in supporting communities to unleash their energy and potential so they can get to where they want to be. We are one of 12 distributors of National Lottery funding.
We work closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the license holder for The National Lottery, currently Camelot, to distribute National Lottery funding across the UK.
Every year, the projects we back reach more than five million people and help tackle things that matter, such as mental health and loneliness, providing young people with skills and employment opportunities, supporting communities’ COVID efforts and much, much more.
In the last five years alone, we have awarded £3.4 billion in 72,000 grants, supporting amazing things to happen in communities across the UK. That has seen at least one project in nearly every local neighbourhood. Thanks to National Lottery players, every seven minutes we back a community project that makes amazing things possible.
Our work is divided into five portfolios, covering funding across England, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and the UK. Each of these portfolios has its own committee of non-executives making major funding decisions via three funding streams: small grants under £10,000, larger grants of over £10,000 and partnership grants that support organisations to collaborate and innovate.
