MEDIC aims to serve the Triangle community and medical industry by helping innovators cross the valley of death from ideation to commercialization. We've found that these medical innovators, be they caregivers, academics, students, or industry members, often have great ideas for new products but lack the time and resources required to develop that idea into a product that can be invested in.
MEDIC fills this gap by pairing these innovators with student teams that can work together, utilizing MEDIC's network and resources, to take their ideas to the next level. The innovator can be as involved as they would like and can go to their day job knowing that they have champions carrying their idea down the pipeline. We are able to work with students from any local university and provide them with unique internships while helping them develop valuable skills they can take into their professional careers.
MEDIC also works with local large medical product companies, helping them be more innovative. Many large companies have potentially game changing skunkworks projects that have to sit on the shelf while they focus on their sustaining work. Through a partnership with MEDIC, these companies can push their skunkworks projects forward. We build teams of students to work directly with these companies and help oversee any projects the company assigns to them. This provides valuable internships and interactions with local medical product companies for the students. For companies it not only allows them to move more innovative projects forward, but also helps them build a pool of potential future employees that they have directly worked with and know.
