TLB Society Inc is a Melbourne based literary organisation which publishes the quarterly print magazine The Lifted Brow. The Lifted Brow is a quarterly literary/culture/ideas print magazine made in Melbourne that publishes work from folks who hail from all over. It is distributed and read around the world.
Also produced is a digital version of the magazine, delivered via a mobile app, and its website publishes commentary, literary reviews and humour writing. TLB Society Inc also makes the occasional book.
Since its inception in 2007, The Lifted Brow has featured in its pages the work of a wide variety of writers, including Christos Tsiolkas, Helen Garner, David Foster Wallace, Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, Rick Moody, Karen Russell, Tom Cho, Douglas Coupland, Heidi Julavits, Tom Bissell, Tao Lin, Eileen Myles, Wayne Koestenbaum, Rebecca Giggs, Margo Lanagan, Jim Shepard, Frank Moorhouse, Anna Krien, Romy Ash, Matthew de Abaitua, Diane Williams, Sam Lipsyte, Sheila Heti, Jim Shepard, Chris Somerville, Elizabeth Gaffney, Andrés Neuman, Angie Hart, Blake Butler and Benjamin Kunkel.
The Lifted Brow has also always championed comics and graphic narratives, having published the likes of Simon Hanselmann, Eddie Campbell, Noel Freibert, Jonny Negron, Katie Parrish, Michael Hawkins, Leonie Brialey, David C. Mahler, Marc Pearson, Mandy Ord, Renee French, Jo Waite, Ben Sea, Ben Juers, Bailey Sharp, Mel Stringer, Michael Fikaris, Pat Grant, Sam Wallman, and Lee Lai, among others.
The Lifted Brow also stages events, runs workshops, and collaborates with other organisations on creative projects.
