For the last 20 years, Mr. McKenzie has served as a hands-on interim CFO and restructuring advisor to PE firms, hedge funds, and family offices, and their portfolio companies to quickly restore liquidity, cash flow, and sustainable economic viability.
Mike acquired the fundamental skills of the restructuring trade by founding and building Brew Pallet Co, a family office sponsored start-up that grew to over 239 employees, two locations, and over $134 million in sales, all inside of three years.
The rest came from executive posts at Bankers Trust Company, EY, Accenture, and HILCO.
After being inside the books of over 1,287 companies, certain patterns emerge - patterns of success and patterns of failure. The value is in knowing which is which, while there’s still time - I know that and I’ve paid the price so you don’t have to.
Partners, investors, and clients value Mike’s insights curated from a large inventory of observed
successes - and failures - from being part of the c-suite and their boardrooms at leading
companies, private equity firms, venture capital, and family offices - boardroom insights
unavailable on the internet or anywhere else other than through close contact relationships with
global influence - the wisdom of experience that only comes by leading companies through multiple business and credit cycles.
Client companies have an average size of $350 million in annual revenues, with a range from
$100 million to $20 billion in annual revenues.
Educated at Northwestern University and The University of Chicago, Mr. McKenzie holds undergraduate degrees in physics and economics and an MBA in Finance and Accounting.
