In 2005, Fox Television Studios approached Simon Andreae to leave his successful division at Channel Four in the UK and start a production company in Los Angeles dedicated to high quality, innovative, unscripted programming. The Incubator was born.
After three years of prodigious growth, The Incubator, still led by Simon, has become fully independent. Our clients include CBS, Fox, HBO, USA Network, Lifetime, VH1, Spike TV, History, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, TLC, Channel Four (UK), Five (UK), Discovery UK and BSkyB. We have also expanded into scripted programming and theatrical documentaries with sales to the Fox Network and ThinkFilm respectively.
We are proud of our work and our brand, striving to create shows that are both highly original and deeply absorbing. Our team is passionate, hard working and above all, collaborative. Television is a collective enterprise and we try to reflect a sense of teamwork in all that we do.
In 2007, together with Pioneer Productions in London, we were the happy recipients of top awards at both the BANFF World Television Festival and the New York Film and TV Festival for our two hour National Geographic and Channel Four Special In The Womb: ‘Staggeringly beautiful’ Daily Telegraph, UK.
We also work closely with a number of UK and European producers, helping them secure funding for feature and television projects in the US. Among our notable recent successes is In The Shadow of the Moon, which received the highest ever US advance for a theatrical documentary. It went on to win six major awards, including the prestigious Audience Award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. ‘Fresh, compelling…riveting’ Los Angeles Times.
At the beginning of 2008, we entered into a collaboration with Dawn Porter’s Hot Patootie Productions, under which we develop and produce shows featuring Dawn Porter for the UK, US and international markets.
