The Hoya is the oldest and largest student newspaper of Georgetown University, serving as the university’s newspaper of record since 1920. We publish every day online and every Friday in print during the school year. Each print issue also includes a weekly lifestyle magazine, The Guide. The Hoya also publishes a blog, The Fourth Edition, which provides a lighthearted take on all things Georgetown. We distribute 4,000 free copies to 30 locations across campus and the Georgetown neighborhood during the academic year and continue to publish online during the summer.
The Hoya has been a central part of the university community since our first publication in 1920. The Hoya is produced, managed and edited entirely by students. Nearly 400 students are involved in the publication of the paper as reporters, photographers, designers, editors and business staff.
Editorial operations are overseen by the editor in chief, while business operations are run by the general manager. The current editor in chief is Riley Rogerson, and the current general manager is Emily Wang. The paper is governed by a ten-member board of directors. The current chair of the board of directors is Katherine DeMatteo.
Several times a year, The Hoya produces special issues, including a preview of the basketball season and a comprehensive New Student Guide, as well as issues focused on fashion and other special topics.
