The High Tech Society is a website that was created by Kimberly Carver and is the first business / website under her company name of Carver Networks.
The High Tech Society was built when Kimberly found that as a writer of mostly tech related articles, her clients required her to use a male pen-name. The clients explained that this was because "men respect it (tech and gaming) more if it comes from another man." Kimberly grew tired of not being allowed to use her own true female identity and felt that she would still be respected as a writer in the tech field with her own name. She also spoke with her writer's groups and found that most had a similar experience. In fact, almost none of them had been allowed to write in their own name. This is why Kimberly decided to start a site that would allow these women and others like them to be themselves. The site is now mostly written and run by a mostly voluntary group of women (and men) that love and agree with the idea of the site.
Basically, The High Tech Society is a group of writers that united together to create one place for anyone to go to for any technological inquires.
The goal of our society is not only to help others in this fast growing world of technology, but also to hopefully encourage other women to find their voice and not feel that they cannot do something simply because it is said to be a "man's job." All of us at The High Tech Society love helping others, lets face it, when you help someone else it is a great feeling.
