Sondelani is a company with a vision to release the productive potential of Africa. We believe the power of Africa is in her people who have enormous potential, most of whom are small scale farmers who live in naturally productive areas.
Sondelani has deep roots in agriculture (& more specifically, small scale farming) but now has branches in food processing & Retail, all held together by the sturdy trunk of well-developed value chains that ensure the success of our small scale farmer partners. Our flagship brand, Hamara (meaning ours) is built on the premise that we provide total solutions & inputs for farmers and we provide horticultural, poultry & dairy products from farmers - in other words, a complete value chain from inputs to markets.
Our unique set up sees us being one of a handful of licensed Broiler & Layer breeders in the country; we operate state-of-the-art hatcheries and also run a top-notch feed mill, being the only company in the country that produces day-old chicks AND commercial animal feeds in-house. We also operate one of only 2 tomato processing plants in the country, having recently commissioned a state-of-the-art facility in Bulawayo that has the capacity to process 150 tons of tomatoes per day of operation, providing quality tomato paste for local & regional industrial consumption and a reliable off-take for local farmers. Our Hamara Dairy is also producing quality products for the local market, including our popular amasi, yoghurt, butter & fresh milk (courtesy of our pedigree Jersey herd) whilst the Hamara Egg brand is Matabeleland's most established egg brand.
We have trained 13000 small scale farmers through TMG (originally Turning Matabeleland Green), a non-profit organisation that seeks to develop a network of competent farmer partners to meet the country's growing food & export needs. We also run Ebenezer Training Centre, an agricultural college for youth that develops skilled farmers through a sought after 2-year on-site diploma programme.
