Once an old coach house and stop over en route to Southend. The Halfway House is now a destination in its own right. Owned by the O’Donoghue family for 40 years, The Halfway House, has a warm welcome for all. As a Free House we are able to offer a wide variety of products; boasting fourteen draft beers and craft ales and up to 40 varieties of gin! The Herongate Suite, with its own private entrance, bar and restrooms makes the perfect venue to host an intimate Wedding or a party The Grand Marquee is the jewel in our crown, catering for up to 300 guests in elegantly finished surroundings. This versatile and attractive venue needs to be viewed to really visualise your celebration and the ability to customise it to your specific needs. Our elegant grand marquee is set in the grounds of the Halfway House overlooking Thorndon County Park. In these stylish and tranquil surroundings it has its own private bar facilities, restrooms, parking, bridal suite, terrace and gardens. The Grand Marquee is tastefully lined with ivory wall & ceiling linings making it a perfect neutral backdrop to compliment your chosen wedding decor.
