The Greenhouse is a trauma and addiction recovery centre in Singapore for marginalised and vulnerable communities, such as those who are LGBT, ethnic minority, HIV+ or formerly incarcerated. Our approach is data-driven, evidence-based and trauma-responsive. In addition to helping our clients recover, we advocate for competent and compassionate care in Singapore and empower caregivers in supporting loved ones who struggle with drugs or alcohol.
All of our programs and services are confidential and free of charge. We provide:
*Intake & Clinical Assessment: the first steps towards recovery at our centre, where we assess the needs of each client and customize a care plan for him/her
*Individual Counselling: 16 sessions of integrative, strengths-based and trauma-responsive interventions by trained counsellors
*Group Therapy: clients discuss with peers their life challenges and work out relational issues in facilitated meetings
*Psychosocial Support: a trained befriender works with the client to navigate care resources and maximize adherence to care plan
*Caregivers' Support: friends and family of our clients meet monthly to learn and encourage one another
*Social Activities: nature hikes, cinema therapy, mindfulness meditation etc. help clients foster a sense of connectedness
*Workshops: personal development and skills training (e.g. resume writing) for clients and volunteers
*Case Management: active management of each client's recovery journey by our centre managers, befrienders and counsellors via fortnightly and monthly conferences
*Referral: for health screenings and wider community services to trusted community partners
*Research & Publications: community surveys and academic reports on substance use in vulnerable communities; findings inform design of our programs and services
*Outreach & Education: media articles, public seminars and engagement with government agencies which deepen understanding of addiction and build awareness of the promise of recovery
