The Global Day of Jewish Learning gives your community a chance to join 500+ communities in 40+ countries in a day of learning and engaging in Jewish texts. The Global Day is the largest, annual world-wide community study of Jewish texts ever held. This year's Global Day will take place on Sunday, November 15th with worldwide study on the theme of Love: Devotion, Desire and Deception.
Seize this opportunity for your community to appreciate the relevance of Jewish texts in our lives. Exploring topics like parental love, sibling rivalries and true love, this year's theme and curriculum challenge us with questions including: What is love? What does it mean to love God? What does it mean to be commanded to love a category of people? Is love always good?
Participating communities are provided with resource materials including: a detailed curriculum with material geared for both adults and children, providing detailed guidance for facilitators; 24x24 live online global learning; a video class with Rabbi Adin Even-Israel Steinsaltz; marketing materials; and more. All materials are free of charge to registered communities.
Programming on the day itself can take a variety of forms— speakers throughout the day, a keynote speaker, experiential activities, peer-led small group discussion, beit midrash learning, screening a 24x24 session and more.
Partner organizations, including JDC, Hillel International, JFNA, PJ Library, and JAFI's Partnership2Gether, are vital to the initiative. Some 35 organizations internationally joined this effort, across the denominational, political and communal spectrum.
The Global Day of Jewish Learning is an initiative of the Aleph Society to unite Jews around the world through the study of our shared texts. The project is under the aegis of Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, furthering his mission-- “Let my people know.” The Global Day is dedicated to the life and legacy of Ralph I. Goldman z”l.
