We're Shelley and Amanda, curious types - writers for, and the team behind, The FoodPath NZ - from Aotearoa New Zealand, a little country at the bottom (or is it the top…) of the world.
We’re based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, and first became friends when we started working in a corporate setting together. But that seems a lifetime (or two lifetimes) ago now. Since 2016 we’ve been inspired by seeking splendid places, unearthing more about them, and figuring out their special place in Aotearoa New Zealand’s story, good and bad, happy and sad. Of course, like The FoodPath NZ suggests, we’re especially bothered to come across the best local food producers and eateries along the way, learning more about them too.
On the writing platform Substack we’re writing postcards about the places we've loved visiting - things we do and find, the stories we uncover - and only things we’ve researched and been to ourselves. Maybe one day you’ll be nearby, to follow our path too. Or maybe you’ll just enjoy reading about this part of the world, from wherever you are. Every postcard gives you our story, a real flavour of our sense of the place, and includes detail of our favourite food places nearby.
We do it ourselves. And yes we’re totally independent. So if we cover somewhere, you know we’ve been there, thought it was just the ticket, and wanted to find out more. Nothing we do is a paid promotion - it’s all independently handpicked. We’re independent… so you can be too.
