Flying Ship Technologies, Corp. is building unmanned, autonomous, green wing-in-ground-effect vessels to deliver goods efficiently to tens of thousands of destinations. Combining green technologies and 21st-century aerodynamics dramatically decreases vessel costs, improves energy efficiency, and eliminates greenhouse gas emissions.
There has been a market surge in the demand for time-sensitive, price-sensitive coastal regions around the world. However, to ship goods over large bodies of water, there are only two options: (1) airplanes, which are fast but very expensive; or (2) boats, which are inexpensive but slow – there are no middle options. Unmanned Flying Ships will fill this gap by providing access to countless delivery points at an order of magnitude faster than boats and at a fraction of the cost of aircraft.
The first generation of Flying Ships are thirty feet long, electrically powered, and semi-autonomous, operating within maritime infrastructure. The unmanned vessels fly just over the surface and dock using existing marinas, beaches, and boat ramps to efficiently deliver goods. Because they are classified as marine vessels, Flying Ships are not governed by federal airspace regulators, ensuring quicker entry to the market and lower development and operating costs. Next-generation models will be fully autonomous.
