The Digital Life Skills Company CIC (formerly Digital Resilience) is a social enterprise that exists to help people thrive in a digital world. We do this by teaching vital digital information literacy skills - so they can access reliable information online and avoid being misled.
By improving people’s digital literacy skills we give them better chances in life. With the right capabilities, they can find practical advice and support when they need it; they can find and take up employment, education and social opportunities; they can share, connect and collaborate.
We believe that everyone should have access to these skills - especially those with lower levels of education who are particularly at risk from misinformation. People with poor digital information literacy are likely to come from the poorest households: they are often lower skilled, in lower income work or unemployed and likely to be in social housing.
That is where we can help. Experienced media literacy trainers Shelley Metcalfe and Laura Cunningham have been delivering workshops in schools the North West since 2017. We now also reach adults and trainers nationwide through our webinars and remote workshops.
These are suitable for digital trainers and learners of all ages. We teach the latest approaches to evaluating online information via engaging and interactive sessions featuring real-world case studies and simple techniques for participants to integrate into their online lives.
