Over the years, the music industry has justly faced criticism for its tendency to strip artists of their power and voices. It is renowned for being exclusive and exploitive of marginalized creatives—seeking to confine them to creative boxes while profiting from their artistry. In truth, the brunt of these hardships are disproportionally faced by POC and LGBTQ+ artists who are inherently deemed unmarketable and unworthy of mainstream attention. We've decided to take a stand against this injustice. “The Cultural Reset” is an organization that seeks to revolutionize the music industry through uplifting the talent, stories, and artistry of POC and LGBTQ+ artists. Through writing reviews on albums by POC and LGBTQ+ musicians, conducting intimate interviews with POC and LGBTQ+ talent, and curating weekly playlists with songs by POC and LGBTQ+ musicians, TCR empowers underrepresented voices to make a space for themselves in the industry. We showcase the value of creatives and artistry that defy convention, while reminding young creatives and music business professionals of their power to enact change. Become a part of the change.
