Our school was founded in 1908 on a large and safe site of approximately 17 acres. Originally it was the Basingstoke High School for Girls – one of the county’s oldest and best-known grammar schools. In the 1970’s the school became a mixed comprehensive and in 2002 a specialist Technology College. We take pride in our long, distinguished reputation and retain our strong traditional values.
The school is now a high-performing Academy giving us autonomy and flexibility to ensure students at Costello have the best educational provision.
Technology plays an increasingly important part in our lives; it is still an important feature across the school and whole curriculum and our use of ICT to support learning is nationally recognised. We aim to ensure students take advantage of the latest technology and innovation. It is our intention that students leave us expert users of ICT and have the skills to access the future workplace.
The school has excellent facilities and we place great emphasis on our learning environment. We have a modern Mathematics and Technology block appropriately equipped for the 21st Century. Recent improvements include a Hair and Beauty Suite and a Dance Studio. Our students benefit from all subjects being taught in specialist rooms.
