Our team of safari specialists are addicted to Africa, Indian Subcontinent and Latin America and have genuine passion for the wilderness, travel and the creation of the perfect safari. Our success was and continues to be borne out of searching out destinations and journeys which are out-of-the-ordinary. They are journeys to places people thought they could never go. Over and above this, personal care is taken in providing our clients with quality service and at all times we seek out operators that excel in providing a 'luxurious bush experience', exceptional hospitality, professionalism in the fields of guiding and conservation and who have an affinity for offering clients the most authentic and unobtrusive wilderness experience.
The Classic Safari Company commenced operations in 1992, trading initially as Hartley's Safaris.
The company was founded by South African born, Julie McIntosh, who set about offering the discerning Australian traveller quality tailored safaris to the more intimate and exclusive safari camps dotted around the premier wilderness regions on the African continent. Over the years, The Classic Safari Company has grown into a successful small business offering uniquely journeys, personally designed in conjunction with the premier safari camps, lodges and boutique hotels in Africa, India, Morocco and South America.
The company is jointly owned and managed by Julie and Sarah Hoyland. Sarah Hoyland, has been with the company since the early 90s, becoming a shareholder in early 2000. She has travelled extensively around the globe - from Africa to Asia, from South America to Antarctica and beyond. Sarah married a fellow traveller she met whilst in Africa, and they have 2 children.
