The Bombay Elektrik Projekt (BEP) is an initiative that promotes cutting-edge artistes – deejays, musicians, singers – (regardless of genre or medium) on a platform they deserve. We look at our role as one that combines artiste management, music curator-ship and content specialisation to bring together artistes, venue owners-promoters and event managers.
The aim is to expand people's perspectives on music that goes beyond the realm of Bollywood bootlegs, mainstream Hip-hop and commercial house.
What kind of deejays, musicians, singers are we looking at? Those who've achieved a certain level of fame, or newbies with buckets of talent?
What's exciting about the artistes that the BEP promotes is the element of the unknown – in local parlance, we like to call them chhupa Rustoms, with potential for mainstream success. We've begun scouting and putting the word out among the youth and 20-somethings, auditioning for young talent.
We’re looking to balance this with a healthy mix of international artists with similar mainstream-potential-yet-off-beat qualities. This cross section of talent is what, we believe, will make the BEP a sustainable venture.
Artistes, venue owners-promoters and event managers looking to do something out of the box, do get in touch with us. We're a bunch of people who've always yearned for a different scene. And now we're doing it ourselves.
