For 5 years we've managed our own makerspace and hosted camps, classes and many different events to inspire others in the joy of learning and creating in engineering and technology. We've had over 60 team members come onboard with an average 15 each summer with camps. These last two years our summer camps have been sold out. We've had many projects involving #3Dprinting, #robotics, #Internet of Things(IoT), #Arduino, #RaspberryPi, #programming, #Minecraft and other technologies to broaden the exposure of 'new tech' to our community. Our focus is on quality of our programs and helping participants achieve technical literacy. Some may ask WHY are you closing your physical location...
Over the last two years, we have seen the interest grow in schools, libraries and other community organizations to create their own makerspace education and robotics programs. Thus instead of continuing to grow our own community by renewing our lease, we feel that we can make a bigger impact by starting the next chapter in our journey by focusing on providing services and technical expertise to schools, libraries and other communities to inspire making and project-based learning. A majority of these services will be Makerspace and Robotics Starter Programs which offer both mentoring and equipment as a one-year jumpstart to makerspace or robotics capabilities in their community. We offer professional development training in #Making, #3DPrinting, #robots, #programming, #digitalmanufacturing, #digitaltech, #Minecraft and other virtual or physical creations with a goal of increasing creativity, design thinking and problem-solving.
We appreciate the support for our Sugar Land location programs over the last 5 years and we look forward to being a partner with Houston area schools, libraries or community centers to continue the journey for more makerspaces and project-based learning!
