The Solar Decathlon is an international competition hosted by the United States Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, in which 20 student-lead teams compete to design, build, and operate the most attractive, effective, and energy-efficient solar-powered house.
The University of Calgary (U of C) is spearheading Team Alberta’s 2011 project, with significant participation from several of its diverse faculties. We are driven by an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to experiential learning, This includes the integration of academia, industry, and government, in a holistic triple-bottom line approach to the issues embodied in the design of contemporary residential solar power.
