Taylor Pride is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organized by Taylor residents creating opportunities to bring our LGBTQIA+ family and our allies together within our community and our neighboring communities. Our main goal is to bring awareness, to advocate, to educate, to support & to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community.
Taylor Pride began in early 2020 with a virtual pride celebration during the pandemic, along with the display of nearly 200 yard signs to publicly show support, allyship & safe spaces. On June 26th, 2021, Taylor Pride hosted the first Pride celebration for the City of Taylor and for Williamson County, bringing together nearly 2000 people from our local rural communities and abroad.
Other events we have hosted have included PRIDE bingo, drag brunches, happy hours, monthly youth group events and back-to-school youth mixers. While we like to have fun, we also provide resources to our community such as mental health discussion panels, virtual LGBTQ+ cultural trainings & created Duck Pantry, which provides a daily snack to every student in all 3 TISD elementary schools, to ensure our littlest Taylor ducks are able to thrive. We have also teamed up with the TISD Legacy Early College High School to provide work study opportunities.
We established our 501(c)3 in Jan 2022 and have plans to continue working with local businesses, organizations and schools to offer opportunities for our LGBTQ+ community to thrive.
