In 1949 saw the opening of the company's doors for the first time.
Embassy had it’s origin in Embassy Street, North End.
Leyland & Jaguar were an essential part of the company.
In 1961 the late Ray Taverner purchased the company.
In 1979 Alan Taverner took over leadership and brought the Porsche franchise with him.
In 1985 the company bought the second VW franchise dealership in Port Elizabeth.
In 1986 York Motors in George was purchased.
In the second half of the 1990’s, the rationalisation of the Autohaus dealership into Embassy took place.
In 2006 a state of the art Tavcor Technical Centre in North End Port Elizabeth was opened to cater for the growing needs for Specialist Technical work and to house Audi Service.
In 2006 Tavcor Select was opened in Mossel Bay.
In 2006 Tavcor Truck & Bus commenced in new premises located in the industrial area of George.
In 2006 the SEAT franchise was opened in Greenacres Port Elizabeth with Tavcor Select.
In 2007 the Tavcor MotoRent Car & Van Hire was opened to support the Tavcor Service customer base and address niche market opportunities.
In 2007 sees the expansion of the Audi showroom to cater for the new R8 and other Audi exotics.
