Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is a classical institution of higher education, a national heritage of education, science and culture, which enjoys global recognition as Ukraine's leading educational, scientific and expert center.
Founded in 1834, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is largest national higher education institution in Ukraine.
Currently there are 28 units of Shevchenko University:
- There are 12 Faculties within the University: Chemistry, Computer Science and Cybernetics, Economics, Geography, History, Information Technology, Mechanics and Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Radio Physics, Electronics and Computer Systems, Sociology;
- There are 7 Educational and Scientific Institute: Geology; High Technologies; International Relations; Journalism; Law; Philology; Public Administration and Civil S;
- Educational and Scientific Center "Institute of Biology and Medicine;
- There are 2 Professional Pre-Higher Education Institution (Optical and Mechanical College, Geological Exploring College);
- Ukrainian Physical and Mathematical Lyceum;
- There are 2 Preparatory departments.
More than 25,000 students, nearly 2,000 foreign students and about 2,000 professors are currently taking part in over 500 educational and research programmes.
