The purpose of SOFF is to promote the common interests of the security and defence industry in order to achieve the best possible preconditions for future business. To strive for increased understanding of industries importance to Swedish security and defence policy is a part of that.
The Swedish Security and Defence Association is open to companies whose production of security and defence equipment and services constitutes an essential part of their output, i.e. companies engaged in research, development, production, trade and marketing of military and security equipment, material and services. The Association currently has over 100 member companies including 80 SMEs. The Association is representing a total turnover of approximately 3 billion Euros and has 30 000 employees in Sweden.
Everything that SOFF does is driven by understanding the issues, opportunities and priorities of the sectors which SOFF represents: defence and security. SOFF is working with Members and gaining this understanding that allows SOFF to develop and deliver the services that provide real value. No matter what their scale of business, it is essential that it is the membership that determines what SOFF is and what it does. SOFF welcomes the involvement of all businesses and organisations that are making a contribution to the Swedish economy across the security and defence sectors.
The Association represents the industry in ASD (AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe), NIAG/PfP (NATO Industrial Advisory Group/Partnership for Peace) and are the appointed Swedish National Defence Industry Association (NDIA) towards the EU (European Defence Agency, EU Commission) and in the Nordic context (NORDEFCO), this in addition to closely co-operating with defence industry organisations and associations in several countries.
