Swedish International Centre For Local Democracy (Icld)

We believe that sustainable local democracy is key to achieving the UN global goals in Agenda 2030. That’s why ICLD forwards partnerships between Swedish municipalities and regions and international partners. Exchange of experiences and tools in the partnerships enables durable improvements in local democratic institutions and local solutions to be created for important local challenges, such as health, climate, integration, citizens dialogue or gender equality. ICLD offers specialist-training programmes (ITP) aimed at key individuals at local level in partner countries and facilitates a knowledge center for research in the fields of local self-governance, local democracy and decentralization.
