Sutton Music Trust provides high-quality music education to children and young people in the London Borough of Sutton. We deliver vocal projects, whole-class ensemble tuition, instrumental and vocal lessons, specialist advice and support for schools, a comprehensive range of musical ensembles, groups and choirs and lessons at our evening and weekend Music Academy.
Sutton Music Trust is the lead partner in the Sutton Music Hub and has served the local community for over 50 years. Our vision is to create an inclusive service that helps every young person in the London Borough of Sutton to make, be inspired by, and celebrate the music they love. As a Music Hub, we work to fulfil the aspirations of the National Plan for Music Education. We are funded by income from parents, schools, and the Music Education Grant, administered by Arts Council England.
Sutton Music Trust is one of Cognus’ 26 services commissioned by the London Borough of Sutton to provide education services to mainstream schools and specialist education providers in Sutton. Wholly owned by the local authority, we deliver a wide range of services to deliver excellent practice in schools and settings that improve the lives of children, young people, and families.
As part of Cognus, we can collaborate regularly and work in partnership with our colleagues in other services. For example, we have secured money from Youth Music to remove barriers faced by children and young people with sensory impairments, the Autism service has provided training for our tutors, and we are developing our early years offer with the EYFS team.
