In honour of the late Suzanne Thelma Miller Taei, the Sue Taei Ocean Fellowship's purpose is to elevate the role of Indigenous women in ocean conservation, by developing a cohort of Indigenous women from the Pacific in becoming leaders within ocean spaces. Pacific Women are crucial to creating effective, sustainable and long-term solutions for their communities, cultures and environments and they are so often the last to be heard, their voices unsupported because of societal norms, colonisation, a lack of educational resources and respect for cultural knowledge. The Sue Taei Ocean Fellowship is committed to supporting Pacific women in navigating and creating effective solutions, to sustain their culture, communities and oceans for future generations.
