Student Union At Kungsholmens Gymnasium

The Student Union at Kungsholmen’s Gymnasium is a non-political, non-religious organization with about 1600 members. The Student Union consists of and is run by the students at Kungsholmen’s Gymnasium. The main student driven organization at the school has over the years changed from being a Student Council to the more independent Student Union. The majority of the operations of the union takes place within the School building in which the union has four rooms to its disposal. As in being the biggest student union in Stockholm the union at Kungsholmen’s Gymnasium has a strong voice in decision making when it comes to internal negotiations with the school board as well as in inspirational aspects in the collective of Student Unions in Sweden. The union has a membership in the umbrella organization Student Unions of Sweden. Through Student Unions of Sweden the union has been able to partake in regional and national gatherings and workshops with the purpose to exchange ideas and experiences with other Student Unions in Sweden. The Student Union is financed by governmental grants and well-negotiated deals with external companies and cooperation partners which requires a well handled budget and a responsibility taking SU Board. The purpose of the SU is formally to operate for its members’ economic, non-profit, social, academic and union related interests. This is why the SU is a platform for anyone who wants to contribute to a better three-year-visit at Kungsholmen’s Gymnasium.
