Stromma Netherlands aims to be Amsterdam’s most hospitable and inspiring tourist company with its brands ‘Stromma.com’, ‘Canal Tours Amsterdam’, ‘Hop On Hop Off’ and ‘Amsterdam Excursions’. The company hosts 1.5 million guests annually for the ultimate Amsterdam experience on 31 cruise ships, 15 open boats, a classic saloon steamer, 100 pedal boats and six buses. Stromma Netherlands has been part of the Swedish Stromma Group (Strömma Turism & Sjöfart) since spring 2016. Stromma Netherlands has a long history that started with Rederij Bergmann in 1912, Meijer’s Rondvaarten (in the 1920’s) and as Canal Company in 1984. The company became Amsterdam’s oldest and largest shipping company.
Stromma has been active in shipping and tourism in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark (and since 2019 also in Germany) for two centuries. The name comes from strömma, the Swedish word for ‘flow’ or ‘current’. The company considers sustainability as a high priority. This is why they have a Green Key certificate. Environmental pressure is minimised as much as possible by the increased use of electricity instead of natural gas and hybrid diesel-electric engines.
