We, the "Stiftung Arbeitskette" (a non-profit foundation in the field of work integration/integration), opened our first restaurant with workplaces for psychologically disabled employees in 1994. Today we run several restaurants and a catering business in the Zurich region.
In our restaurants, we offer young adults with a disability an apprenticeship in gastronomy or retail. Together with them we create the basis for a self-determined (professional) life. In addition, we offer adults with health restrictions or with a refugee background a job in an appreciative environment and enable welfare recipients who cannot find employment in the primary labor market to resume work and earn part of their income themselves.
For us, work integration (inclusion) means involving our employees in their daily work in the restaurants or in the confectionery, supporting them in a committed and appreciative manner in the further development of their professional and personal skills and resources, enabling our apprentices in a practical and labor market-oriented manner and accompanying them on their way into the professional world.
Professional caterers manage the restaurants and are supported by experts in inclusion. The catering business operates on a cost-covering basis, while our social mission is supported by contributions from the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Zurich.
Success and quality lie in the combination of gastronomy and inclusion, in the collaboration between catering and inclusion specialists and in the joy and conviction that enjoyment and social commitment go well together.
