Stichting Zorg Voor Borstvoeding

The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative is a worldwide programme of the World Health Organization and UNICEF. It was established in 1991 to encourage maternity hospitals and related healthcare services to implement the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding to ensure a high standard of care in relation to infant feeding for pregnant women and mothers and babies. Support is provided for healthcare facilities that are seeking to implement best practice, and an assessment and accreditation process recognises those that have achieved the required standard. Stichting Zorg voor Borstvoeding was founded to carry out BFHI accreditation in the Netherlands.
