Stichting Memorabele Momenten Amsterdam (MEMO Amsterdam) brings performing arts to young children in their own trusted environments. MEMO stimulates early child development in a playful manner and enriches the children's daily lives.
Our interactive performances are an invitation, a challenge and an attractive opportunity for young children to engage with the talent in others. The diversity of the performers in terms of their talents and characters convey the implicit message that having talent is part of being human.
MEMO is an Amsterdam based organisation working with passionate (young) artists who receive training to perform at nurseries, pre-schools and primary schools. The (paid) work we offer is during the daytime and fits seamlessly into their professional lives. The children are introduced to many different music and dance styles, instruments, cultures and art forms performed by professional, often classically trained musicians, dancers and actors.
Company history:
Originally founded in 2005 by Max Brenman, the foundation provides and enriching service to the Early Childhood Education sector providing highly valued musical experiences for children of 0-6 years of age. Working in close co-operation with the Conservatorium of Amsterdam the project has grown over the years and has given more than 75.000 performances.
The organisation does not depend on subsidies thanks to the income it generates from more than 4.500 visits to groups of children per year in Amsterdam. Incidental subsidies support the costs for less commercial organisations who serve children from financially less privileged backgrounds.
Our office is inside a primary school, the Springplank, a literal and symbolic embedding of the project in a pre- and primary school environment.
