Matt Stais founded Matthew Stais Architects (MSA) in Breckenridge in 1995 on the belief that practical, sustainable design could enhance the spaces around us. Having built a foundation in architecture at the University of Virginia, Matt began his career working for firms on the East Coast before making his home here in the mountains of Colorado. With passion for architecture in the High Country, our firm has since been creating compelling, custom designs for a wide range of project types in Summit County and across the West.
We are thrilled to now announce, after 25 great years in Breck, we have not only rebranded as Stais Architecture and Interiors (SAI), but we have relocated to a new collaborative workspace just down the road in Frisco! Our new office features an interiors studio that enables us to expand our offerings and design more comprehensively.
Our team comes from a variety of backgrounds, giving us the opportunity to see new design perspectives and implement multiple disciplines in thoughtful ways. We have four licensed architects and one licensed interior designer on staff, as well as people with years of experience in landscape, historic preservation, sustainability, and business. Everyone at SAI collaborates to ensure we are constructing the best possible designs from the inside out.
On a personal note, we aren’t just enthusiastic about design. We live here at the top of the Rockies for a reason – we work hard and play hard. We love mountain culture, the outdoors, the rich history of this town, the great sense of community, and the opportunity to jump on our skis, bikes, and boats whenever we have the chance. We strive to balance our work with these simple qualities in life so we can better design and give back to this place.
