Founded in 1996, Spiral Q has established itself both locally and nationally as a premier arts organization producing a series of community parades and public arts programs characterized by their capacity to inspire, their poignant treatment of social issues, and their artistic ingenuity. One of less than ten organizations of its kind in the country, Spiral Q partners with schools, social service agencies, arts organizations, and community members to bring residents together in creative endeavors to celebrate our city’s strengths and cultural assets, to explore challenges, and to share common visions for strengthening our communities. Spiral Q has received recent national and regional recognition for its Education Initiatives: In 2010 we received the George Bartol Arts Education Award and have received funding three consecutive years from the National Endowment for the Arts, twice from their Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth award.
Spiral Q is a community-based arts organization offering programming in six areas: Neighborhood Parades & Pageants, Education Initiatives, The Living Loft Museum, Leadership Development, Justice Works and Original Works. We collaborate with hundreds of organizations and schools citywide, now directly serving more than 5,000 individuals and reaching audiences of 25,000 annually.
