Founded in 1989 from the amalgamation of St George and Port Hacking Rugby Clubs, Southern Districts has been at the forefront of rugby union in the Sutherland Shire & St George regions. We have produced a talented breed of rugby players ranging from our first graders to Wallabies and most recently our talent women thanks to our established 7s program.
We have a strong sense of community and the club thrives off the hard work and dedication from all our volunteers, supporters and playing group. Southern Districts, also known as Souths or ‘the Rebels’, fields four men's teams and three colts teams in the Shute Shield competition, and since 2018, fields two women’s 7s teams in the Sydney Rugby Union Women’s 7s competition.
The Rebels playing strip consists of red, for St George and sky blue for Port Hacking with black and white stripes.
We have strong relationships with our surrounding junior clubs who have built very successful junior development programs including Burraneer, Menai, Sylvania Bulldogs, Oatley and Rockdale.
The 2020 season begins on Saturday, April 4 under new and esteemed Head Coach Todd Louden.
