An arts organization by the community and for the community, SSCC is bringing back community music making - starting with the children. Founded in 2016 by Quincy native Kirsten (Shetler) Oberoi, SSCC serves 150+ singers in grades K-12 representing 30 cities and towns in the greater south shore of Massachusetts.
SSCC has never auditioned a child for our program - we believe that if you want to learn to sing, that you are welcome here. Similarly, SSCC has never turned a child away due to finances, and has given over $16,000 in tuition assistance already this fiscal year (2022).
SSCC operates in four locations: Quincy (headquarters), Hanover, Sharon, and Bridgewater. We are excited to announce our partnership with Bridgewater State University starting in the fall of 2022. BSU Music Education Students will intern alongside SSCC teachers, and SSCC will offer classes right on campus, with the intention to expand programming for children and offer inspiration and hands-on experience to budding music educators.
The mission of the South Shore Children’s Chorus is to provide quality musical education and vocal training to students living in the South Shore communities and beyond. SSCC keeps the development and well-being of our students as our top priority, and aims to create a safe space and loving community for choristers to learn, to grow, and to find their own voice. The SSCC is passionate about offering the experience of being a chorister to any student, regardless of financial situation.
