Solar Solutions was established in 1996 by inventor and entrepreneur, Frank Husson. The San Diego-based company is looking for international entrepreneurs to set-up a factories in tropical developing countries to manufacture AquaPak’s and distribute locally. The AquaPak is a portable device that uses thermal energy from the sun to kill human waterborne pathogens. One AquaPak can hold 5 liters, enough for one individual to have a day’s worth of water. It is designed to heat the water to temperatures above 65°C, a temperature that when reached, eliminates all bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. The AquaPak comes with a water pasteurization indicator or 'WAPI'. Inside the WAPI is a colored wax that will melt when it reaches 65°C, indicating that the water is safe for consumption. The WAPI is located in the center of the AquaPak cap and can be viewed when the cap is sealed. The AquaPak received the highest rating of three stars comprehensive protection in the 2019 Water Treatment Testing Protocols, Evaluation Criteria, and Performance Classification by the World Health Organization.
