The Society for International Development (SID), founded in Washington, DC in 1957, is a global forum of individuals and institutions concerned with sustainable economic, social and political development. Today, SID has over 3,000 members in 125 countries and over 65 local chapters worldwide. It works with more than 100 associations, networks, and institutions involving parliamentarians, academics, students, political leaders, and development experts, both at local and international levels. This makes SID one of the very few organizations with a holistic, multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral approach to development. SID-US is the most active chapter worldwide and is known as the flagship of the organization.
