Smart Data Factory (SDF) is a laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering at the NOI Techpark whose goal is to promote technology transfer in Computer Science from academia to industry, public administration, and third sector. This is achieved through the implementation and adaptation of research results obtained by researchers from the Faculty working in various sub-areas of Computer Science. More specifically, Smart Data Factory:
- transfers the advanced skills of the Faculty in intelligent data and process management, information system design, machine learning and computer vision, software development, user experience, and mathematical modelling, for the solution of complex problems, with a special focus on those that need solutions based on Artificial Intelligence;
- promotes the co-design and co-development of innovative smart applications with industry, public administration, and third sector, and with other laboratories at the NOI Techpark;
- enables its stakeholders to benefit from open innovation in different application domains, in particular those of interest for South Tyrol, such as tourism, government, agriculture, healthcare, and smart cities;
- increases the region's ICT potential and competitiveness through the creation of communities with diverse innovation experiences and capable of attracting research funds locally, nationally and internationally;
- plays an important educational role by offering seminars, courses, workshops, and training programs targeted at its stakeholders, thus fostering the innovation process.
