Nowadays public and private institutions are increasingly investing time, effort and considerable resources in huge structural projects, or megaprojects, as a way to add more value to their shareholders and stakeholders. Projects with a magnitude of R$ 1.0 billion are emerging in the growing Brazilian economy. On the one hand, a megaproject is celebrated for generating employment and income, but on the other, it is proven statistically that they cause the most damage and impact, economically, socially or environmentally.
