Signal was founded in 1967 in a store in Copenhagen, Denmark under the name of Buksesnedkeren. From the beginning the Buksesnedkeren concept was unisex trousers and leisurewear.
In 1973 the brand moved the production from Copenhagen to a newly built factory in Gilleleje, where all garments were designed and manufactured.
The brand name Buksesnedkeren was renamed Signal in 1996. The focus shifted from being a well-known brand in Denmark to building up a concept and a brand aimed at the international retail scene with both own retail stores and a wholesale business.
In 2009 the Signal brand was acquired by the management of the company together with a group of private investors and in the end of 2009 the company moved from Gilleleje to its own new premise in Kvistgård close to Copenhagen.
