Sigma Delta Tau is a national sorority and member of the National Panhellenic Conference. SDT was founded on March 25, 1917, at Cornell University by seven Jewish women determined to create an inclusive space.
The Sigma Delta Tau headquarters is in Carmel, Indiana, and staffed by professionals. There are 3 traveling Leadership Consultants each year. A national Board of Directors provides oversight and guidance for the organization. A strong base of alumnae volunteers provide support to the organization and individual chapters. Other women may be connected to the organization through their profile due to serving at their local chapters or through volunteerism.
The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation was founded in 1963 as a separate not-for-profit corporation. The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation is committed to encouraging the growth of both collegian and alumnae, by supporting educational endeavors and leadership programming. The SDT Foundation is managed by one staff Director, three volunteer officers and nine trustees.
