Shelter NSW was established in 1975 and is the State’s peak housing policy and advocacy body. Our vision is "A secure home for all".
We provide advice on policy and legislation across the housing system, representing all its parts, working to address inequality in housing and seeking to ensure that the voices of housing consumers are included in our advocacy.
Our approach is to engage, collaborate, connect and include. We work with Government, the private and not-for-profit sectors, consumers and all within our community who want to see a fairer housing system.
Our work is grounded in evidence and research is central to what we do. In partnership with leading education and experts across housing, our research work adds to the collective knowledge on current and emerging issues, builds public awareness, informs solutions and strengthens our advocacy.
Shelter NSW is part of a national network of organisations. A national body, National Shelter brings together all the state and territory organisations as members.
