Shelby County Books from Birth (BFB) is a nonprofit dedicated to building a more literate Memphis by providing books to parents from the time their child is born until they start school. One of the biggest barriers for success in school is having students who arrive ready to learn and parents that are engaged in their children's education. By delivering high-quality books directly to homes and supporting them with educational materials and reading tips, BFB is meeting a real need in Memphis. Currently, 35,000 children receive this program each month, which is 53% of all children under age 5 in Shelby County.
