The Services SETA is one of 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities set up by the government to ensure the skills gap is closed by collaborating with the private sector to meet the current industry needs and skills needed in the future as part of the post-school education and training system (PSET). To accomplish this, SETAs must work with employers, ensure training meets their needs, and strive to create an environment where lifelong learning is encouraged.
We facilitate and fund initiatives designed to develop skills in the service sector. Historically, South Africa has been plagued by massive inequality, with previously disadvantaged groups excluded from the economy. Our primary aim is to bridge the gap by way of skills development, and by providing quality education, resources, and job opportunities. We do this by disbursing grants to employers and skills development providers to offer training to employed and unemployed learners, as delegated by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). Additionally, our skills development drivers are deployed through learning programmes like learnerships, skills programmes, internships, and other learning initiatives.
