Seeking Modern Applications for Real Transformation (SMART) was registered in 1997 under the Society’s Registration Act, 1860 with non-profiteering objectives. Founded by activist and documentary filmmaker Archana Kapoor, SMART has been working in the difficult and backward areas of UP, Haryana and Assam and Tamil Nadu. SMART believes that poverty has a woman’s face and that literacy and new communication technologies can serve as a tool for eradicating poverty, enlarging employment opportunities, advancing gender equality, improving family health, protecting the environment and promoting a democratic participation. SMART focuses on: Disaster, Culture, Education, Financial inclusion, Strengthening Local Governance, Women Empowerment, Conflict.
