Nielsen stats found that 70% of tablet users and 68% of Smartphone owners used their device while watching TV. In response the TV industry has created apps that conduct polls and push supportive synched content. AT&T sponsors Conan's synched second screen app, HBO & Showtime have several for their scripted shows, but hands down live sports telecasts generate the most second screen app use.
Despite presenting those deep second screen experiences all the existing users activities are still relatively passive when compared to Second Screen Sports ® .
